The Journey
Our health and fitness can be an uphill journey- It’s an effort to get to the next level. If we learn some basic skills though, we can thrive at each stage. We are all at some point on this journey.
Performance Zone:
- The performance zone can be a harsh environment.
- Pushing the limits. Without proper nutrition and coaching there’s a higher chance of injury or losing sight of the bigger picture.
- This is an area worth visiting, but probably not for long periods.
Body Camp 3:
- Nutrition & fitness are dialled in.
- Gained knowledge and skills to be comfortable at this level.
- What seemed an impossible dream to start with is now a consistent reality.
The Ideal Zone is between Body Camps 2 and 3
- Great health and well-being.
- Low chance of injury.
- Compatible with your lifestyle.
Body Camp 2:
- Regular Functional movement.
- Regular cardio or resistance workouts.
- Diet & sleep are improving.
- Still a learning process, though.
Body Camp 1: Starting the Journey
- Beginning to move.
- Starting to incorporate some fitness, but it’s quite new.
- Less mindless grazing & drinking.
Wellbeing is built from balance.
Equal focus on Exercise, Diet and Rest. Without balance it’s unlikely we will be able to reach our goals in a healthy and sustainable way- which is why most diets don’t work. At Chef and Shuffle we focus on all three of these pillars, to help you understand how to feel better (inside and out) with small sustainable changes that produce lasting results.
Exercise
Exercise is vital for maintaining and improving cardiovascular efficiency, strengthens muscles and bones, reduces the risk of chronic diseases, improves mood and sleep, and boosts energy levels.
Unfortunately, without the correct nutrition, exercise alone is not the key to managing weight.
Post-exercise, we need to refuel. Willpower may stave off hunger in the short term, but in the long term, most of us we will inherently end up replacing all the energy we used to fuel our exercise.
Diet
Our diet is what determines our body composition– not so much the exercise!
Our diet is important in helping muscles grow and rebuild after exercise. A strong body will have a lot more structure and stability underneath any fat than a weak body.
By feeding our bodies with everything it needs, in a natural way it understands, you’ll feel full and sustained for longer, and are far less likely to overeat- and combined with regular movement, makes it easier to stay in shape.
Sleep
Often underrated, quality sleep is the magic that binds our wellbeing together.
It shapes our mood, influences our decisions, affects the food we crave, our motivation, and our energy levels.
Still need convincing? Think about how you feel after a late night or a few drinks — how productive are you the next day? How much junk food do you reach for?
The connection works both ways: the better our food choices and the fitter we are, the better we tend to sleep.
